엑셈, 클라우드 DB 모니터링 시장 공략 본격화

[데이터넷] 엑셈(대표 조종암)이 국내 최다 DB 기종을 지원하는 ‘맥스게이지(MaxGauge)’ 제품에 클라우드 환경 내 각종 DBMS를 모니터링하는 신규 제품군 ‘맥스게이지 포 클라우드DB (MaxGauge for CloudDB)’를 추가하며 클라우드 DB 모니터링 시장 공략을 본격화한다.
엑셈은 SaaS 및 클라우드 환경 내 구축된 포스트그레스큐엘(PostgreSQL) DBMS를 모니터링하는 ‘맥스게이즈 포 클라우드DB(PostgreSQL)’를 출시했다고 11일 밝혔다.
엑셈은 클라우드 대전환 트렌드로 인해 기업들이 DBMS를 클라우드로 이관하거나 온프레미스와 클라우드 환경 모두에서 하이브리드 DBMS를 구축하는 등 전환을 가속화함에 따라 고객 니즈에 대응하기 위해 해당 제품을 출시했다고 설명했다.
이번 출시된 ‘맥스게이즈 포 클라우드DB’는 SaaS를 포함한 클라우드 환경 내 포스트그레스큐엘 DBMS를 모니터링하는 제품이다. 따라서 아마존웹서비스(AWS)나 구글 클라우드(GCP), 마이크로소프트 애저(MS Azure), 오라클 클라우드 인프라스트럭처(OCI) 등 클라우드 벤더에 상관없이 설치와 이용이 가능하다.
창립 이래 국내 DB 성능 관리 시장점유율 1위를 지켜온 엑셈은 그간 축적한 노하우와 기술력을 바탕으로 기존 온프레미스 상의 DB 모니터링 수준에 상응하는 기능들을 ‘맥스게이지 포 클라우드DB’ 제품에도 구현해냈다.
현재까지 클라우드 내 포스트그레스큐엘 모니터링 솔루션들은 그 방법이 제한적이었는데, ‘맥스게이즈 포 클라우드DB’는 다양한 톱-N 분석 데이터, 베큠(Vaccuum) 성능 데이터, 이중화(High Availability) 관련 성능 데이터, 임시 디스크(Temporary Disk) 사용량 등의 데이터를 기존 온프레미스 환경과 동일하게 모니터링하고 실시간으로 성능을 진단한다.
또 객체(Object) 관점의 크기(Size)와 사용량 등을 시각적으로 구현한 오브젝트 맵(Object Map), 과거 특정 시점 기준으로 그루핑된 성능 데이터와 각종 리포트를 제공하는 등 사후 분석 기능도 갖추고 있다. 이로써 타사 클라우드 DB 모니터링 제품과 비교해 강력한 경쟁 우위를 보유하고 있다는 것이 회사 측의 설명이다.
포스트그레스큐엘 DBMS는 클라우드 전환 시 상용 DBMS를 대신할 수 있는 대표적인 오픈소스 DBMS로 꼽힌다. 타 DBMS와 비교해 대량 데이터의 처리가 편하고, 이식성, 확장성, NoSQL 지원에서 뛰어나기 때문에 클라우드를 도입하는 기업들에게 DBMS를 선택할 때 대표적인 대안으로 부상하고 있다. 더불어 국내 공공부문에서도 기관들의 오픈소스 DBMS 사용을 정부가 권장하고 있는 상황이다.
엑셈은 이번 포스트그레스큐엘 모니터링 제품을 시작으로 클라우드 환경 내 오라클, MySQL, SQL 서버 등 기타 DBMS를 모니터링하는 ‘맥스게이지 포 클라우드DB’의 세부 제품군을 올해 상반기부터 잇따라 출시할 예정이다.
엑셈은 국내 클라우드 DB 모니터링 시장의 초기에 진입한 점과 올해 정부의 ‘3차 클라우드 기본 계획’ 본격화로 국내 클라우드 대전환 물결이 거세질 것으로 보고 클라우드 DB 전용 포인트 솔루션 ‘맥스게이지 포 클라우드DB’의 활발한 공급을 기대하고 있다.
실제로 클라우드 DB 시장은 전 세계적으로 확대될 것으로 전망된다. 마켓앤마켓(MarketsandMarkets)은 글로벌 클라우드 DB 및 DBaaS 시장규모가 연평균 15%씩 성장해 2025년 248억 달러에 달할 것으로 전망했고, 가트너(Gartner)는 2022년까지 전체 DB의 75%가 클라우드 플랫폼으로 구축되거나 마이그레이션이 일어날 것으로 전망했다.
엑셈은 제품 출시와 동시에 국내 화장품 대기업에 제품 설치를 진행 중이다. 회사 측은 출시부터 뛰어난 제품 완성도를 입증했으며, 클라우드 전환과 함께 클라우드 DBMS를 도입했거나 고려 중인 고객들을 타깃으로 공급 기회를 빠르게 선점하는 데 주력하겠다는 방침이다.
